The Linux kernel is again the victim of a critical security vulnerability. There was news not so long ago of a loophole that allowed the taking of root privileges via a null pointer dereference exploit. A second flaw of the same type has been found, with the same range of vulnerabilities, and has a similar fix. Meanwhile, extra caution is advised if your distribution does not include a kernel image with the fix applied.
