More power! Ultra - the American firm well known for being a pioneer in manufacturing modular power supplies - has launched a real monster, in terms of both power and price.Ultra is officially launching its X4 power supplies, offering 500 to 1600 Watts on a single rail of 12 volts and 80 + Bronze stamped, or 82% minimum efficiency between 20% and 80% load and 85% at 50% load. Their MTBF is 100,000 hours and are guaranteed for life.
The 850, 1050 and 1200 Watt models are available immediately, with respective prices of $249.99, $279.99 and $299.99.
Following in late October are the 650, 700 and 750 Watt models, at $99.99, $119.99 and $149.99.
The 1600 Watt model arrives at the end of the year for the extraordinarily modest sum of $399.99. That's enough voltage to supply even the wildest and most powerful machines imaginable for folding - multi-GPU configs in particular. One must still, however, have the financial means and physical space required for these oversized PSUs. In this sense, the launch closely mirrors that of Windows Seven.
