ATI Radeon logo. It's Sapphire's turn to churn out a mad product for us to salivate over... but have to sell an organ to afford. Here we have an ATI Radeon HD5990 that may just be the first computer component capable of catching a cold!

The card has two GPU cores running at 850MHz and some 4GB QDR GDDR5 running at 1200MHz. ATI have not given this card an official name (the HD5990 moniker is of our own making), but it incorporates two HD5870 cores onto one chip. To keep things cool, it has three 92mm fans sat on a monstrous heatsink that is longer than the circuit board of the card. The cooler is supplied by Arctic Cooling, and looks very similar to their Accelero Extreme 5970, which can be found here.

Remembering that this card will not be particularly effective for the current crop of Folding@home clients, the news get worse for those hoping to build a folding beast as this card needs an incredible 375W to run, delivered through a pair of 8-pin PCIe power plugs. We hope you have a good power supply for this card! It is also very likely that this card will only fit in larger cases, unfortunately.
