nVidia has unveiled on Twitter the names for future Fermi/GF100-based cards. We can therefore expect to see the GeForce GTX470 and GTX480 replace the current GeForce GTX285 and GTX295, respectively.Although very little technical information is currently available, we know via the official presentation of the Tesla card by nVidia CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, that the consumer model will be more powerful than the model designed solely for calculations. Indeed, the Tesla card should have 448 stream processors, while consumer versions should have 512 stream processors.

This is good news as far as performance is concerned, but an approach that leaves many perplexed as to the reliability of the beast. If the chip is designed to operate 24/7, how reliable is it for consumer use in 24-hour GPU Folding?
Hopefully we will not end up reliving a fiasco similar to that the GTX280 or 9800GTX+ caused, which are deemed to be less reliable cards in these conditions.
