Intel has confirmed the existence of a new Core i7 930 platform for LGA 1366 / X58. There's nothing too revolutionary about this processor, but it will replace the Core i7 920. It features a clock frequency of 2.88GHz, which can climb to 3.2 GHz in Turbo mode. The remaining features of the processor are identical to that of others in the Core i7 900 series. The launch is scheduled for the first quarter of 2010.Intel has also decided not to use the name Core i9 for its Gulftown processors. The first model should be called Core i7 980X, and will be launched early in the second quarter of 2010.
