AMD has begun to sell Phenom II processors using stepping identified as C3, instead of C2. On the menu: not too much at first glance, but the operating voltages are capable of being downgraded. Officially, the TDP of the CPU has not fallen. But prices and wattages are:- Phenom II 945 - 95W for €120
- Phenom II 955 Black Edition - 125W for €130
Lower operating voltage is a good sign, and it may be that the overclocking potential of these models is a little greater, and the cost of using our expensive machinery is lowered.
According to AMD, this is the last change to stepping before the transition to 32nm in 2011.
